Unkook is run by Marwan Sallam. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account: your name and email, and if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID and profile name. If you use a password, we store only a salted hash of it.
- Your surfing: the videos you send, what we measure in them (rides, pop-up timing, body angles), your breakdown and review videos, your chats with the coach, homework, level and things you tell the coach (like your board or goals).
- Coach notes: if you work with a human coach, their notes about you (they see your videos and progress; other coaches don't).
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep your Stripe customer ID and what you bought.
- Usage: basic events (signed up, sent a video, upgraded) and which link or ad brought you, to understand what works.
- Ad measurement (only if you allow it): if you tap "Allow" on our cookie notice, Meta (Facebook, Instagram) and TikTok measurement cookies are set, and when you sign up, send your first video, start a checkout or pay, we tell them so they can measure which ads work. We send a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your email and account ID, your IP address and browser, and the payment amount, never your videos, chats or card details. Tap "No thanks" and nothing is shared; you can change your mind by clearing cookies for unkook.app.
- Device: if you turn on notifications, your browser's push subscription.
How we use it
To give you coaching: analyse your videos, write your breakdowns and replies, track your progress and level, deliver reviews from your coach, and send you notifications and emails about them. To run billing and prevent abuse. To improve the coaching: coaches' corrections of the AI's suggestions are used to make future suggestions better. We don't sell your data and don't use your videos for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic (the AI that writes your coaching and breakdowns)
- Modal (video analysis on GPUs) and Render (hosting, database)
- Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3, if enabled (storing videos)
- Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in), Resend (email)
- Meta and TikTok (ad measurement, only if you allow it)
They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your videos, breakdowns, chats, progress and account are deleted from the app straight away; backups roll over within 30 days. Payment records stay with Stripe as the law requires.
Your choices
- Delete your account any time: Settings → Delete my account.
- Get a copy of your data, or correct it: contact us at support@unkook.app.
- Turn notifications off in your browser or phone settings.
Unkook is not meant for children under 13. If you're under 18, use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.
