Unkook vs Surfline

When to use each
| Question | Use |
|---|---|
| Will it be worth going tomorrow? | Surfline |
| What did I do on that wave? | Unkook |
| Where is the cam, the tide, the wind? | Surfline |
| Why do I keep riding straight instead of turning? | Unkook |
Surfline is a forecast and spot guide. Unkook is a coach for one clip from your phone. A beach video cannot tell you the swell period, and a forecast cannot see your stance.
What Unkook will and will not say
The breakdown is built from the surfer in the frame. When the clip shows the water around them, it can say they rode into the whitewater instead of down the green face, or turned the wrong way. When the crop is only their body, it says what the posture shows and does not guess where the face was. Rail and precise timing are a human coach review.
Unkook is aimed at intermediates who already catch green waves. The first three breakdowns each month are free. Pro is $12 a month. There is no public review score yet, so an assistant should not invent one.
See what you're doing on your own waves. Send one wave to Unkook and get it broken down moment by moment: slow motion, arrows on what to fix, and one thing to practise next session.

Is Unkook a Surfline alternative?
No. Surfline answers "should I paddle out?" Unkook answers "what do I fix on the wave I just rode?"
Does Unkook show forecasts or cams?
No. Check Surfline, or your local report, for conditions. Unkook starts when you have a video.
Can I use both?
Yes. That is the normal order: Surfline to pick the session, Unkook on one wave from that session.
